New Delhi, September 24:
The powerful and poignant long poem, ‘As A Fountain In A Garden’ by Indo American author Kamla K. Kapur was released at the India International Centre, New Delhi.
Mr. Keki Daruwalla, a noted poet, released the book at a function organised by the Poetry Society (India). Mr. Jai Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Govt of India, presided over the function.
The book has been published by US based Tarang Press jointly with Hemkunt Publishers, New Delhi.
According to its publisher Mr. Payson R. Stevens, As A Fountain In a Garden deals with one of the most difficult subjects – suicide. When it strikes one’s life, in the loss of loved one or friend, the impact is overwhelming and often devastating. Most people are immensely uneasy talking about it and suicide carries the shame that was once associated with having cancer—something to be hidden, not discussed.
Kamla K. Kapur has given us a glimpse into the power and anguish that a suicide can cause in a person’s life. It is a courageous work filled with profound wisdom and searing beauty: a crafting of language to transform a tragic experience into art, he adds.
